We're the Guardian, we have to bag America

The Guardian newspaper can't even let a sports report go past without having a go at America and conservative Christians.

In a country where Christian fundamentalists demand a literal interpretation of creation, it has only to rain for a couple of days in the final week at this grand slam for Darwinism to impose itself.

(Hat Tip: water)

Now the writer, Stephen Bierley, probably thought that was a bit of a laugh. And in general circles it could be. I'm the last person in the world to cry "that's offensive", but it is indicative of the double standards in news publishing. Could you imagine a similar comment being allowed if the target was a conservative religious belief of a Muslim country?
